Redux/Films Apple Insomnia 24 Hour Film Competition

Redux/Films latest film ‘Personal Style’ is competing in the Apple Insomnia 24 Hour Film Competition. The film was written, shot and edited in 24 hours with 4 required elements including a Dutch Angle, a character named Robyn Darjeeling, a tuxedo, and a park bench. Redux Heads to San Francisco for Visa “Life Takes” Invitational

Alex Poe and Joe Varca are heading to the screening of the new Redux film ‘Hard Times’. The film is being screened as part of the 48 Hour Film Project’s Visa ‘Life Takes’ Invitational. The top ten teams that competed in the National 48 Hour Film Project from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York were invited to compete in the Visa ‘Life Takes’ Invitational. The competition requirements entailed the use of the phrase “Life takes…” and the incorporation of a Visa card. Tropfest@Tribeca 2007 - Redux/Films ‘I Graduated, But…’

Redux/Films screened ‘I Graduated, But…’ at the Tropfest@Tribeca last night outdoors at the World Financial Center in Battery Park City. The film was one of 16 films that screened in front of a large audience including the judges, actor Josh Lucas (Poseidon), Australian-born actress Rose Byrne (Damages, Troy), actor/director Griffin Dunne (The Accidental Husband, Fierce People, After Hours), Academy Award®-nominated director Bennett Miller (Capote), actress/director Mary Harron (American Psycho), and director Tom McCarthy (Station Agent). Screening @ Tribeca Film Fest’s Tropfest - Sunday, Sept 23

I Graduated, But...

‘I Graduated, But…’ written/directed by Alex Poe, will be screening on Sunday, Sept 23rd in Battery Park City as a finalist in the Tribeca@Tropfest short film competition. A co-production of the Tribeca Film Festival and Australian based festival, Tropfest, the event hosted by Target will showcase 16 short films that feature the item: ‘a slice.’ Judged by a panel including actress Rose Byrne (F/X’s Damages), actor/director Griffin Dunne (After Hours, Fierce People) and Oscar nominated director Bennett Miller (Capote), the winner of the competition will receive the Target Filmmaking Award and will premiere their film at Tropfest in Syndey, Australia.

::The outdoor event starts at 5pm at the World Financial Center in Battery Park City (2, 3 train Chambers St. stop) with live music from D.J. Shorty, Haunt and SecondDan with films screening at 8pm. Information at www.tribecafilmfestival.org

VISA ‘Life Takes’ Invitational 48 Hour Film Project

Redux/Films recently participated in the VISA ‘Life Takes’ Invitational 48 Hour Film Project for NYC. Competing for a grand prize of $10,000 the top ten finalists of the National 48 Hour Film Project in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco were choosen to compete in another 48 hour film project sponsored by VISA. Redux/Films’ entry, ‘Hard Times’ will screen at the VISA ‘Life Takes’ event on Saturday, September 29th in San Francisco. Best Film / Director at NYC 48 Hour Film Project

'Long Night'

Redux won top honors at the 2007 NYC 48 Hour Film Project, taking home Best Film, Best Director, and Best Acting at the Awards Screening on July 15th. The film, ‘Long Night,’ will go on to compete in the International 48 Hour Film Competition in February and Redux has been invited to compete in the Visa ‘Life Takes’ 48 Hour Invitational and the 48 HFP Fall Shootout between the top city teams in November.

‘City of Glass’ Photos

Redux/Theatre’s production of Paul Auster’s City of Glass debuted at PTP NYC this July at the Atlantic Theater Second Stage. Part of PTP NYC’s ‘After Dark’ series, the production marksed the 8th anniversary of Redux’s founding production. Originally work-shopped in Houston, TX in the summer of 1999, the play was subsequently produced at Middlebury College and the Williamstown Theatre Festival Workshop during the 2000 season. The most recent production featued a new score and video projection design by Joe Varca. The cast included original workshop and production cast members Ben Correale, DeVon Jackson, Sean Nelson, Alex Poe, and Joe Varca. Adaptation by Alex Poe, co-directed by Alex Poe and Joe Varca.
